Personal protective equipment (PPE) is a must-have for any individual working in an industrial setting because it ensures safety of the workers during their day to day activities. The PPE include equipments like the Head helmet, safety boots, welding glasses, over rolls, ear plugs, noise masks, hand gloves to mention above a few. In a bid to promote, enhance vocational skills and increasing on the employability among the young generation in the renewable energy value chain in Uganda, REBi with support from the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Kampala, is implementing a three years project Vocational Training for Job Creation in the Renewable Energy Value Chain in Uganda
In an effort to enhance skills development in Renewable energy, 57 students were attached for industrial training for a period of six months from different companies and organizations dealing in RE in the country. The RE companies include among the following; Bugali Hydro Power in Jinja, Eco gardens Hydro Power in Kasese, Kisiizi Hospital Hydro power Limited in Rukungiri, Master Power Systems Limited in Kampala, Ugastove Limited in Kampala, Josa green Technologies limited in Wakiso, Best Of Waste limited in Kampala, Kampala Jellitone Suppliers limited in Kampala, Centre for Research in Energy and Energy Conservation (CREEC) at Makerere University Kampala, Energy Uganda Foundation in Wakiso, Absolute Energy in Kalangala, Adpt plus limited in Bukere, Kyaka II Refugee Settlement, Portico limited in Nakivale Refugee Settlement Isingiro, Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited in Kibaale, Mayuge, Kitwe, Kanungu, Kisoro, Kyegewa, Rubanda, Khiihi and Isingiro districts.
In a nutshell, as a way of ensuring safety for the trainees during their industrial training, REBi with support from the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Kampala provided safety equipments (PPE) for trainees.
